WordPress 3.6 Available for Update Soon

As you may have heard, WordPress 3.6 is currently in Beta mode and will be released in the coming few weeks. The highly anticipated update was originally scheduled to be released in May, but some complications have pushed it back. Here is a quick look at what you should know about WordPress 3.6.wordpress-3-6-preview

What’s New?

With every update comes a load of fresh features that you may or may not notice. Here are just a few of the most interesting new features:

  • Audio and Video Support: In the past it was sometimes difficult to embed videos into WordPress. The update allows you to more easily embed videos without external libraries or plug ins.
  • Post locking: This feature is perfect for blogs with multiple authors. If someone else is editing a post, you are able take over and block them from continuing.
  • No More Post Formats in Core: WordPress will be changing Post Formats to a plug in as a part of 3.6. If you think you may be using Post Formats now you can give us a call, and we will help you upgrade your site to utilize the plug in.

When Should I Upgrade?

Please keep in mind that WordPress 3.6 is still in Beta, so they are still working out a few bugs with the update. We suggest that you wait until the stable release to upgrade your WordPress. As always, if you need help or think you will be affected by the upgrade, feel free to contact us.
